وقد وقع الحادث صباح يوم السبت 28 أكتوبر 2023، على طريق القاهرة – الإسكندرية الصحراوي، أمام مدخل قرية الشجاعة على الطريق الصحراوى السريع عند الكيلو 132 فى منطقة النوبارية بمحافظة البحيرة.

وبحسب التحقيقات الأولية، فإن سبب حادث الصحراوي اليوم هو الشبورة المائية الكثيفة التي ظهرت في الصباح، والتي أدت إلى اصطدام سيارة ملاكي بأتوبيس، وتوالي تصادم عدد من السيارات، مما أدى إلى انفجار خزان الوقود واشتعال النيران.

وقد تسبب حادث طريق مصر إسكندرية الصحراوي في توقف الطريق في الاتجاهين، وتم الدفع بسيارات الإطفاء لمحاصرة النيران وإخمادها، وفرق الإسعاف لنقل الضحايا والمصابين.

وأعربت الحكومة المصرية عن تعازيها لأسر الضحايا، وأكدت أنها ستتخذ الإجراءات اللازمة لمنع تكرار مثل هذه الحوادث.
